Description of activities

We received the invitation to participate in the Gift a poem campaign in a very difficult period. In fact at that time teachers were engaged in the preparation of the international day of Mathematics (Jim). That time also corresponded to the end of the 2nd term when they had to fill in students’ reports books, to catch up the last lessons, to attend meetings with their head masters to talk about students’ work and behaviour at school. I therefore passed on the invitation to the focal points in our schools, but none of them was available to take part in that new activity.

I took time to call them again for the Gift a poem campaign. The point is that in Africa we are praticable; instead of writing a text, we rather tell what we want. We are not so well rooted in writing and reading. Once more there had been no reaction of our focal points. I decided to make phone calls to encourage some of them to react. At last three of them finally did something. Among them one did not use the appropriate paper to copy the poem. I think that the next sessions will be better.
