Description of activities
For the first time ASPNet Schools in Dominican Republic participated in the “Gift a Poem” Campaign. Some schools gifted poems to people walking by in their neighborhood and entered small businesses to share the initiative. The Politécnico San Pablo School went to a foundation called “Revolución de Amor” and gifted to the elderly and patients with health conditions. Many students gifted the poems to their teachers and friends within their school community. Other schools even did school assemblies and something they called “The Poetry Café” to share poems with all school members prior to gifting the poems. Students and teachers described how much they loved the activity because it allowed them to connect with others. Those who received the poem expressed they really appreciated this initiative because it lightened their day with something positive. This experience with the campaign was a success, motivating our ASPNet Schools to participate in upcoming years.
