Description of activities

Fifteen secondary schools throughout Guyana participated in the Gift a Poem initiative. The students directly presented their encouraging poems to two children’s homes, their school counselors, their school librarians, other students from schools in close to theirs, selected teachers, and their peers. The poems were transcribed in the form of letters, cards, bookmarks, posters, and framed wall art. Utilizing the Whole School Approach, poems were also disseminated via the schools’ Notice Board and, in some cases, the creation of Public Poetry Booths.
