Description of activities

The campaign “Uzdāvini dzejoli” (Gift a poem) was announced at the beginning of March by the Latvian National Commission of UNESCO and information about it was also provided via national radio station thus gaining attention of wider public: therefore, not only educational institutions, but also libraries, museums, other institutions and individuals took part in it and some of them posted their poems on social media using hashtag #uzdāvinidzejoli. The campaign was implemented in different ways: in some schools, students gifted poems to classmates; younger students gifted poems to older students and vice versa; teachers gifted poems to students.

The campaign was also used as a collaboration idea between schools from different countries- students were gifting poems to each other in different languages. Libraries, museums organized special events or gifted poems to their clients. Some poets gifted their poems to people, made video versions of poems. All in all, there were more than 40 institutions and individuals participating in the campaign. Most of the poems were in Latvian and some in our indigenous – Livonian language.
